June 3 is the 154th day of the year (155th in leap years) in the Gregorian calendar, leaving 211 days until the end of the year. Today’s celebrations touch on topics as diverse as geography, love, music slang, congenital conditions, and food culture.

Some of these observances—such as World Cider Day and World Clubfoot Day—have clearly documented origins, while others are modern cultural creations.
Here’s a full overview of the 10 national and international days observed on June 3.
National and International Days on June 3
Chimborazo Day: Honors the summit of Mount Chimborazo in Ecuador, which is considered the closest point to outer space due to its location along Earth’s equatorial bulge. Although Mount Everest is taller when measured from sea level, Chimborazo sits higher above the planet’s center. The day encourages a fresh perspective on geography and invites outdoor enthusiasts to explore their local trails in celebration of Earth’s natural landmarks.
Insect Repellent Awareness Day: Observed annually on June 3 to highlight the role of repellents in preventing insect bites and reducing the risk of diseases like West Nile virus, dengue, and Zika. The day was launched in 2014 by the San Gabriel Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District to educate the public about proper repellent use, both at home and while traveling. It serves as a timely reminder as summer begins and insect activity increases.
🦟 A related awareness day is World Mosquito Day, observed each year on August 20.
Love Conquers All Day: Founded in the 1990s, is dedicated to the belief that love can overcome adversity. It recognizes all types of love—romantic, familial, platonic, and even the love we share with pets. The day encourages people to express love openly and reflect on the emotional strength that love brings to daily life.
💗 Love Conquers All Day shares a similar theme with Valentine’s Day and Global Love Day on May 1.
National Chocolate Macaroon Day: Celebrates the rich, chewy treat made with coconut and chocolate. Often mistaken for the more delicate French macaron, the chocolate macaroon has a denser texture and a rich history. The earliest American mention appears in the 1871 Jewish cookbook by Esther Levy, where it was categorized under cakes. This day closely follows National Macaroon Day on May 31, offering an excuse to enjoy a second round of this beloved dessert.
National Egg Day: Draws attention to one of the most widely consumed protein sources around the world. Eggs are packed with nutrients, especially protein and vitamin D, and continue to be a subject of nutritional debate. Despite changing health trends, they remain a staple in many diets. This food holiday highlights the egg’s versatility across breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus.
National Repeat Day: Encourages doing things more than once. From rereading a favorite book to revisiting a personal goal, the idea is to reinforce positive habits, learn from repetition, or simply have fun by doing something again. The day doesn’t have a known founder, but its lighthearted nature has helped it remain popular among fans of quirky celebrations.
National Simp Day: Founded by Twitch streamer and musician JohnOfTheForest in 2020 to challenge negative stereotypes tied to the term “simp.” Traditionally used as a derogatory label for someone perceived as overly affectionate or attentive, the word has often been weaponized to shame emotional vulnerability. JohnOfTheForest created the holiday to promote empathy and celebrate the softer sides of love, releasing a new “simpcore” track each year to mark the occasion. The day also coincides with the anniversary of his song Poki Poki.
World Bicycle Day: Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2018 to promote cycling as a sustainable, accessible, and health-conscious mode of transportation. June 3 was chosen to encourage governments, communities, and individuals to support cycling infrastructure and celebrate the positive social impact of bicycles. From environmental benefits to boosting physical and mental well-being, this day highlights the global importance of two wheels.

World Cider Day: Began in Germany in 2013, launched by the Association of Apple Wine and Fruit Juice Press Houses in Hesse. This day celebrates the cultural, ecological, and culinary significance of apple cider, marking the start of the cider season in many regions. Press houses and cider lovers use the day to promote orchard preservation and local traditions, especially those connected to meadow orchards, which support regional biodiversity.

World Clubfoot Day: Established in 2013 by the Ponseti International Association and is observed on the birthday of Dr. Ignacio Ponseti, the orthopedic specialist who developed the Ponseti method for treating clubfoot. The day raises awareness for this common congenital condition and supports families affected by it. Early intervention can prevent lifelong complications, making the day an important reminder of medical progress and global outreach.
