This day honors the pasta dish created in 1908 by Roman restaurateurĀ Alfredo di Lelio, who served fettuccine tossed with butter and Parmesan to help his wife recover her appetite after childbirth.Ā  The observance recognizes both the original three-ingredient Italian version and the later American adaptation with heavy cream, reflecting how the recipe changed over time as it spread internationally.

February 13: National Tortellini Day

National Tortellini Day honors the small, ring-shaped stuffed pasta that originated inĀ Bologna, in Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region. March 20: National Ravioli Day

Ravioli Day celebrates the square or round pasta pockets filled with cheese, meat, or vegetables. These pasta pillows can be served with marinara sauce, butter, or cream-based sauces.

National Macaroni Day highlights the short, hollow pasta that is commonly used in macaroni and cheese. Macaroni is also popular in salads, casseroles and soups.
