Origins of the Espresso Martini

The Espresso Martini was created by Dick Bradsell in the mid-1980s at the Soho Brasserie in London. The story goes that a young model walked into the bar and asked for a drink to “wake me up and then f**k me up.” Bradsell, working next to a new coffee machine and amidst a vodka craze, combined espresso, vodka, coffee liqueur, and sugar syrup, thus creating the Vodka Espresso, later known as the Espresso Martini.

  • Espresso: Provides a strong, rich coffee flavor.
