The holidays often bring plenty of cheer—and perhaps a few too many toasts. If you’ve found yourself reaching for another glass more often than usual, you’re not alone. Dry January is here to help. This 31-day challenge, started by Alcohol Change UK, invites you to take a break from alcohol, reset, and discover how great life can feel without it. It’s a no-pressure, no-strings way to see the positive changes that come with a month off drinking—and there’s no downside to giving it a go!

To make your Dry January journey even more rewarding, I’ve created 23 stunning, free no-alcohol challenge trackers. These high-quality PDFs are designed to keep you motivated, and four of them are tailored specifically for Dry January. They’re beautiful, practical, and perfect for celebrating each milestone you achieve. While this article focuses on Dry January, the full collection is available in a separate post, showcasing trackers for various no-alcohol goals. Check them out here and find the one that suits you best!

What is Dry January?

Dry January began in 2013 with just 4,000 participants, but it’s grown into a global movement. Why? Because the benefits are undeniable. Taking a 31-day break from alcohol can bring more energy, better sleep, a boosted mood, sharper focus, and a fatter wallet. Beyond these day-to-day perks, research shows real health benefits: improved blood pressure, lower cholesterol, and reduced risks for diabetes and certain cancers.

The challenge is as simple as it sounds—commit to skipping alcohol for January and see what happens. It’s not about giving up forever; it’s about experiencing the difference a month off can make. Many participants discover they feel so good, they stick with healthier habits long after January ends.

Dry January in the USA

Although Dry January originated in the UK, it has become a global phenomenon, including in the U.S. Since January 2023, Meharry Medical College has been the official home of the international Dry January® campaign. This focus highlights the serious impact of alcohol in the U.S., where:

  • About 88,000 people die annually from alcohol-related causes, making it the third-leading cause of preventable death.
  • Over 6% of U.S. adults have an alcohol use disorder, affecting 1 in 12 men and 1 in 25 women.
  • Approximately 623,000 people aged 12 to 17 also struggle with alcohol use disorders.
  • Each year, 1 in 5 adults—roughly 53 million people—experience harm caused by someone else’s drinking.

Dry January offers a powerful way to take control, even if you’re not part of these statistics. It’s about building awareness and enjoying life in a healthier way.

Keep Track and Stay Motivated

Tracking your progress during Dry January can be a game-changer. My 23 free no-alcohol challenge trackers are here to make it easier and more enjoyable. Four of them are specifically designed for Dry January (you will see them below), with various designs and layouts to help you celebrate each day you stay alcohol-free. They’re part of a larger collection I’ve created, so if you’re curious to explore trackers for other goals or themes, be sure to visit the main post.

Each tracker is a downloadable PDF you can print and use immediately—because staying on track should feel fun and rewarding, not stressful.

Dry January 2025 Trackers

The first two tracker designs bring a playful “bubbles” theme to your Dry January journey, adding a touch of excitement to marking each day alcohol-free. Every day of January is represented by its own bubble, ready for you to color in as you go. It’s a fun and satisfying way to watch your progress grow while keeping yourself motivated.

This design is one of my personal favorites, and I hope it adds a little extra joy to your month. I can’t wait for you to give it a try!
