I love watching DIY home decor tutorials on TikTok and Youtube. Watching someone create something beautiful from practically nothing has always thrilled me. In this post, I share with you the best tutorials I have found on TikTok, my new favorite social media app. I hope you will like these tutorials as much as I do. Let’s get started!
Easy Paper Maché Fridge Magnets/Planters
I don’t know about you but I am bananas about succulents. Especially the tiny ones. They are just so super cute. I think if I had more time to care for them, I’d have them all over our house – on window sills, book shelves, the coffee table and so on.
This amazing video here shows you how you can make your own paper maché fridge magnets without much hassle.
I find the idea to make fridge magnets with a small planter just brilliant.I haven’t tried to recreate this one yet but it looks very easy. If you don’t have a green thumb, you can use fake succulents instead.
What is needed for this project:
- warm water + glue;
- ice cube tray;
- old newspapers;
- scissors;
- mod podge;
- magnets;
- hot glue gun for glueing the magnet;
- live or fake succulents
Easy Dollar Store Hanging Miniature Shelves
This easy hanging shelves tutorial is one of the most popular TikTok #DIY videos with over 5 million views and 535K likes. This is a fantastic idea by the artist Nomiki Mastogianis a.k.a. @nomikis.art on TikTok.
So basically all you need for this DIY project is five (5) things:
- a wooden tray;
- a rope;
- a black decorative cord;
- wood stain;
- scissors.
I’ve seen a few social media videos from people, including the popular YouTuber Lone Fox, who recreated these shelves and had them turn out just perfect. So if you would like to decorate your home with similar hanging shelves, give this tutorial a shot.
DIY Tree Branch Jewellery Stand
A tree branch jewellery display can provide a lovely, artistic, and sometimes even Zen-like atmosphere to your room. You can spray paint the branches white, black, or another color to beautifully contrast with your jewellery. The best thing is that it is quite easy to make. When you have some free time, go for a “tree” hunt in your garden, or the nearest park or forest. Driftwood can also do.
So, for this project you will need:
- a tree branch;
- spray paint for the branches;
- an empty oats container or any other mould you have for the cement base;
- cement + water.
There is a bit more thorough tutorial for this same jewellery stand on Derek’s YouTube channel. That video might be even easier to follow if you aren’t very experienced. He found a suitable wooden stick in his garden and tried paining it gold. However, he wasn’t satisfied with the greenish taint he got, so he repainted the branch white. I think his home-made jewellery stand looks amazing!
Elegant Decor And Flower Vases Made From Empty Bottles
I love upcycling projects. I think Lindsey Carlene’s idea in this tutorial is awesome: turning an empty bottle into a trendy decor item. I especially enjoy the pattern she came up with. I think this bottle will look perfect in a Scandinavian-style room or as a decoration in a teenager’s room. Love it, love it, love it!
What is needed for this project:
- empty clean wine or beer glass bottles;
- painter’s tape (optional, depends on your design);
- spray paint + primer (optional);
- acrylic paint and painting brushes.
Instead of spray painting it white, you can also paint it black or some other color to contrast with your jewelry.
Here is one more video on how to upscale wine bottles and turn them into cute room decor items. A nice paint job goes a long way, doesn’t it?
DIY Recycled Tight or Leggings Twisted Knot Stool Cover
Do you also have many pairs of broken tights or leggings that are just waiting to be thrown away when the time is right? If you are like anything like me, you do. But what if I told you that you can turn them into a trendy decor item?
If you have broken leggings and a few hours of free time on your hands, you can turn a simple stool into a designer piece of furniture. This upscaling idea definitely goes onto my DIY bucket list.
For this project you need:
- old tights or leggings;
- scissors + sewing kit;
- wadding;
- a stool;
- upholstery staple gun.
DIY Book Wreath
Here is another craft project I really like. It’s quite simple and you will need only three “ingredients” to make it: a foam wreath base, an old book or newspaper and a hot glue gun. It turns out really pretty. Use it to decorate your entrance door or as a wall decor in any room.
Glamorous Art Deco Style Wall Decor
If you love glitter and everything sparkling, you are definitely gonna love this project. This silver glittery frame looks amazing and is surprisingly easy to make. You can find all the materials you need in a dollar shop.
Basically all you need for this project is:
- 5 cheap photo frames;
- glue gel;
- Mod Podge (a kind go glue);
- Silver Holographic Glitter Shaker;
- and a piece of mirror to add some extra bling to your frame.
If you are interested in trying this DIY project, I found the full video tutorial on Hazlo con poco Dinero’s Youtube channel. The video is in Spanish, but it is easy to understand what to do.
This is all for today. I hope you liked some of the ideas I shared with you in this post. Let me know if you try to recreate something from this list. I’m looking forward to see what you create. Feel free to share links to your creations in the comments!
